The 25hours Hotel in Paddington, the first in Australia, is a perfect demonstration of ARC’s skills and capabilities. This stunning job involved a range of materials, cladding methods, sub-framing build-up and installation techniques, culminating in a unique and striking hotel that stands out amongst the crowd.

Our work was split across two sections:

First, the Copper cladding of the upper level wrapping around the building. This was completed in prefabricated modules, assembled at our workshop ready for immediate installation. These large modules included all sub-framing, and even integrated elements such as the window bays. The process involves accurate measurements and verifications of the site to ensure that the modules fit perfectly, before a “digital double” was developed by our design team, which was then put into production. Prefabricated modules have an array of advantages, but the most notable is the dramatic reduction in installation time, and the impact of installation on the site, whether that is to other teams on site, or to the surrounding area. In this case, being positioned right on Oxford St, keeping disruption to the area to a minimum was crucial.

Second, the showstopping Portico entryway that greets guests. This consisted of one large module, assembled off site and installed in a single night. The bespoke design required a fully custom sub-framing design, which was finished with an array of powder-coated aluminium blades, spaced by perforated aluminium segments. Under the Portico, acting as a Soffit is a unique addition of a “dark mirror” stainless steel circle, surrounded by white powder-coated aluminium to seamlessly blend the Portico into the entryway.
